COVID gives us an opportunity to try out new ways to celebrate holidays.
Normally we go see family for the major holidays. Our traditions take place in the midst of larger family traditions, fun, and big gatherings.
COVID has made us get creative and try out new things. This year for Easter, I made a pavlova, which is a light, airy, sweet meringue ready to fill with chocolate or berries, or anything fun. You can see the picture below right after it came out of the oven.
We also filled a “blessing box” with slips of paper we filled out in the days leading up to Easter. Each day we wrote down a blessing in our lives that we really felt on that day. When we opened up the box after Easter, we could see all the blessings stacked up in there. It reminded us how fortunate we are, even though this has been a tough year.
