One of my favorite things about our neighborhood are the people. We have been so lucky to have people we really like and get along with. Many of the neighbors have become like family. But we have one family next door that is extra special. This past summer my Aunt and Uncle bought the house next door. They only have 1 grandchild and he lives in Australia, so they consider Emelia an extra special great niece.
My auntie is a super gardener. Prior to buying a house in the area they lived in a condo… she ‘rented’ part of our yard so she had somewhere to garden. Emelia has always loved helping her pull weeds and plant seeds; it was a friday morning date. She loves to share her time and wisdom with Emelia. This fall they planted an apricot tree in our yard together. Almost everyday Emelia looks at the tree and talks about how excited she is for apricots. I haven’t told her she doesn’t like the taste of them!
The weather has been simply perfect the past few days so Brie and I spent a lot of our weekend outdoors working on our garden. The peony bushes around our house are in full bloom right now and helps the garden seem even more lush and vibrant than usual.
We knew going into this weekend that we would be busy. Saturday we drove about an hour and a half to meet Alec's parent's for lunch. We didn't drive all the way to his hometown, but we met in a bigger city for a few hours. We try to see his side at least
I saw my parents in person in Connecticut over the weekend for the first time in 1 1/2 years because of Covid. My son, brother and first cousin were also there for a great long weekend at our family's beach house -- perfect weather -- high
