Ups and Downs

The past few months have been a whirlwind. It’s been full of some ups and some really hard downs. Earlier this year we found out we were pregnant with another baby. We have remained active in our adoption pursuit and looked forward to knowing we would at least be a family of five. During this time we also received placement of our foster son whom we had from 6 weeks until just over 5 months old. He is now with a family friend, and we are preparing to close the door on our fostering journey.

About 6 weeks ago we found out the baby I was carrying was a boy. We named him Darcy Stephen and shared his name with family and friends, something we had not previously done in the past until birth. He seemed perfect and aside from severe nausea, the pregnancy was going well. We then found out one week after we last saw him moving around on the ultrasound that his heart had stopped beating. I was induced and delivered him at 16 weeks. He was every bit of perfect, and we were heartbroken by his loss. We had his funeral two weeks ago with family and friends.

He has been gone for one month now, and we are doing our best to move forward in our jouney while knowing we will always miss him. We know Jesus has been caring for Darcy and grieving with us as death was never a part of his plan.

We do anticpate getting pregnant again someday, and we also are continuing to pursue our adoption journey. We know a new pregnancy or a successful adoption would never replace Darcy, and we would never want that. We simply know our family isn’t done growing yet, and we want to be a available as a family for a child.

So here we are, ready and waiting.
