According to the National Council for Adoption, around 70,000 children are placed with an unrelated adoptive family each year. Most of these children are placed with adoptive families through public agencies like foster care. Birth Rate Decline, By the Numbers

• In 2020, birth rates have fallen by 4%
• Since 2007, birth rates among women in their early 20s has fallen by 40%

• In 2010, the average age of first birth was 23. Today, the average age at first birth is 27.
