About Ben

Hi, my name is Ben!

I was raised by a single mother who taught me the importance of empathy, humility, work ethic, responsibility, and getting an education. I also consider myself a life-long learner who has always been curious about the world, people, and the things around me. These values have guided my life journey, and I hope to share these with a child as well.

At an early age, I struggled in school and needed help, so my mother advocated to get the support I needed to turn things around. I eventually became an excellent student. She always cultivated my curiosity and passion for learning despite challenges involved, and supported me in the process. I hope to be the same kind of advocate for a child along their journey; someone who can help them explore, cultivate, and pursue their own interests and passions.

I have a doctorate in Higher Education Administration. For the past ten years, I’ve been working as a college administrator and educator. Like many who get into my field, I didn’t go to college thinking I would work at a college; I stumbled upon it. I enjoy working with college students and it is a rewarding career. My mom likes to say, “I went to college and never left!”
