Ryan and I both grew up in tightly knit, religious communities of people descended from Dutch immigrants. I spent my last semester of high school as an exchange student in Australia, an experience that opened my heart and mind to the wider world. In college, I majored in sociology and “third world” development studies and became good friends with people from all over the world. I love to travel and learn about other cultures. It is important to me to be open-minded and to treat others with kindness.
I am a licensed massage therapist and opened my business in 2009. I enjoy helping people feel better, relax and discover ways to treat stress and pain at home. I’m passionate about wellness and creating a balanced life. Much of my job involves educating and teaching my clients about yoga, meditation and working on trigger points themselves to reduce pain. I love the flexibility of working for myself and the ability I have to take time off to visit family or travel with friends. Being self-employed, I have full control over my schedule and the hours that I work, which I’m sure will be helpful as we grow our family.
I had a wonderful relationship with my mother and I very much want the opportunity to be a great mom, like she was. As a mom, I will always have great food on hand, games to play, cuddles and emotional support to offer and new adventures to plan.
