My fondest childhood memories involve creating complicated crafts with my mom, including elaborate Halloween costumes like a Transformer and a desktop computer. I spent hours in my blue childhood bedroom, creating beloved objects like starships out of Legos and K’NEX.
I’ve always been fascinated by the world and want to learn as much as I can about it. I was the kid in school who brought in books on astronomy, dinosaurs, and archaeology for show and tell.
Science and learning are big parts of who I am. They are central to my job at the Department of Energy, where I work with scientists to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. They are also important passions I want to share with my child. I want to take my child to museums, do home science experiments, read with them, and even sit on the floor for hours to watch and help them build a Lego creation, just as my parents did with me.
I’m also the family goofball. I enjoy singing in silly voices, telling jokes, and doing whatever I can to make the people around me smile. As a parent, my goal will be to bring as much joy as possible into our home. I am eager to spend hours playing with my child, whether it’s dress-up, Legos, dance parties, or any other flight of fancy our child can imagine.
