Activities and Interests

We enjoy celebrating holidays all throughout the year. The three of us have started our own traditions that we can’t wait to share with another child. 

July 4th: Our house becomes decorated with American flags inside and out. Tish makes her famous flag cake and it is our tradition to travel to a beach destination to celebrate. We all get decked out in red, white, and blue and the cousins perform a talent show each year!

Thanksgiving: Our house is decorated with pumpkins from the pumpkin patch! Each Thanksgiving, we travel to be with Tish’s family at her aunt’s house for a country BBQ. We eat, talk and laugh well into the evening. 

Christmas: This is by far our family’s favorite holiday. At night, we turn off all the lights and leave on only the Christmas lights, giving us a cozy, peaceful feeling. On Christmas Eve, we read “A Night before Christmas,” and then Travis cooks reindeer pancakes. Other Christmas traditions include going to see The Nutcracker and riding around town looking at light displays.

We love traveling to new places. In fact, Ashton has already been with us to eight states! One of our favorite places to visit is Hilton Head, South Carolina, where we enjoy laid back beach days. Some of our favorite cities to visit have been Chicago and Boston. Both have a lot of fun museums and interactive places that are perfect for kids. When we are in a city, we take tours to learn about the local history; we find it fascinating!
