Living in West Michigan provides us with access to many activities and places to make memories, but for us, one of the biggest benefits to living where we do is being in close proximity to our extended families. About once a month, we spend time with Nicky’s parents, her four younger siblings, and their spouses and children. We also meet up with David’s parents and his sister’s family for dinner or a paddle-boat ride on their pond.
Our parents and siblings play an integral role in our day-to-day lives through family texts, parents helping with childcare, and general support as we raise our families. In addition, both of our extended families get together frequently to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and major holidays. Raising children with a strong sense of family, heritage, and celebration is important to us and we look forward to having another child, and another family, to celebrate! We are grateful for an open adoption with our third son, and enjoy sharing special family moments together.
