We spend a lot of our free time at the lake, and we love taking out our boat, spending time on the water or relaxing in the sun. It’s even better when we get to share those times with family and friends — which fortunately is most weekends!
Christian loves to tackle projects around the house or in the yard. Matt likes to run (eight marathons so far, including one in Hawaii). And we love to cook together, even though we still probably eat out more than we should. We also both love board games and movies, so a typical Friday night might be going out to dinner and a movie or playing cards and board games with friends or family.
We have a few holiday traditions, too. In the spring, Matt’s Aunt hosts Easter for the whole family. In the summer, we spend the Fourth of July at the lake, watching fireworks from the boat. We also visit Christian’s parents and take out their jet skis on Lake Erie.
For Christmas, we’ve been making the same fun road-trip loop for the past eight years: first, we drive to Christian’s parents in Ohio seeing all the family in the days leading up to his mom’s HUGE Christmas Eve party. After the party, we take turns driving through the night to Delaware, where Matt’s parents live. Christmas morning is Matt’s mom’s favorite time of the year, so we always arrive in time for gifts and breakfast by the tree. Christmas dinner is then always hosted by one of the aunts — they all take turns!
