Hobbies and Traditions

We are really excited to be creating our own traditions as a family, many of them involving food. We love to cook and we love to eat! Almost every weekend, Spencer will try to cook something ambitious that he’s never made before – maybe some type of elaborate pastry or one of the many Korean foods Ihnil grew up eating. We live close to many of our friends—it’s why we moved to our specific neighborhood—and they come over every weekend and stay until late in the evening.

We are determined to see our families as much as possible. Whether it means flying down to Florida or driving out to Long Island, we will do whatever we can to be with our families. Once the baby arrives, they will be coming to Brooklyn as much as possible, and Spencer’s mother has plans to come up every summer through fall.

We also try to get out of the city as much as we can. We love to paddleboard, so we will drive out to the beach on a Saturday to be on the water. We first learned to paddleboard when we rented some in Austin, Texas and we’ve been nuts about it ever since. We plan to bring a baby into the “beach life” as soon as possible. It’s our happy place.
