Home Sweet Home

After a few years of living in our first house we were very excited and blessed to be able to buy our current house in an idyllic neighborhood. We moved in a few years ago and love getting to renovate it and put our touch on it as we go along. It is a traditional, brick two-story house that we enjoy filling up with family and friends for all sorts of cookouts, game nights, and celebrations. Our neighborhood is set in a lovely, quiet corner of town, close to friends and family, and it is even just across the street from a city park covered with forest hiking trails and a playground we visit on almost every nice day.

One of the things that first drew us to our house was the large yard. We knew right away we wanted to eventually build a fire pit for smores and hot dog roasts and a playground fort. We set about building the fort away and and our kids love having imaginative adventures in it (their current favorite is to pretend it is a rocket ship exploring outerspace). Inside the house, some of our favorite spaces are the library shelves we built in the office (Jennifer considers it a fun challenge to fill the shelves with books as soon as possible), the open kitchen where we enjoy cooking and listening to music while we work, and our basement that has become an awesome movie room as well as a fun school/craft area.

With the location of our neighborhood being near four great cities we are close to all sorts of activities, parks, and great places to eat. Some of our favorite spots are the local parks with all the fun splash pads and playgrounds, and a few local restaurants that we visit for weekend family brunches. It has been such a joy to see a lot of the familiar places to us through the fresh, wonder-filled eyes of our children and we are beyond excited to share our favorite spots and discover new ones with another child.
