Meet Megan
From a young age, I was the mediator and caretaker of my younger siblings. As the third of seven kids, I had plenty of opportunities to change diapers, rock a baby to sleep, read books, and help with homework. It was not a surprise to anyone that I went into elementary education as a career. After working for years as a teacher, I am now an assistant principal. I absolutely love my job! When I go to school every day, it doesn’t feel like work. I find so much joy in helping students learn and grow. My siblings, friends, and neighbors often come to me for advice about their children’s education. I happily give help and even tutor on occasion.
When it comes to my nieces and nephews, I am their biggest advocate. I ask them, “Who is your favorite aunt?” to which they reply, “Meggie!” If they ask me for something, I say, “Only because…” and they respond with, “I love you!” These 17 kids and counting are so fun to be around. They are a big part of my heart and can’t wait to have another cousin.
When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, doing puzzles, and listening to or playing music. I play the flute, piano, and sing. I also enjoy walks and drives in the mountains. I grew up in Illinois, where there were cornfields for miles! The mountains are a much different, but welcome, scenery. Spending time in nature is one of my favorite past times, especially when it’s with Alex.
