I grew up in a fairly large city in the suburbs of Detroit. My parents, who have been married for 45 years, still live in the house I grew up in.
I am officially the middle child, having an older sister, a younger brother and a younger sister. Each of us now live only a half hour away from our parents, which makes having them over and going to their homes incredibly easy. This is great because as a family we always celebrate birthdays together. Right now, that means at least once a month from September through May.
My brother and his wife were the first to have children, two boys and two girls. They are remarkable, smart, polite and loving children and they can not wait to welcome a cousin into the family.
Outside of my immediate family, we have a HUGH extended family. My mom is one of nine children and my dad one of four. With each of them having anywhere between 2-6 kids a piece, that results in having over 30 cousins. Most of which still live in Michigan and we get together during the summers and holidays as well as special occasions like weddings and graduations.
