Holidays have always been an important part of my families traditions, with the extended family getting together for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
But one of my favorite traditions is something my grandparents started when my mom was still a kid. Each year, they would camping at a state park in Michigan for two weeks. As she and her siblings grew up and began to have families, the tradition continued on though now we only stay for a week. It’s a week of spending time with family in the great outdoors, playing on the beach, boating and sitting by the campfire eating marshmallows. Some of my best memories are spending time with cousins searching through the woods on an adventure. Those traditions are now being passed along to the next generation in my family and my nieces and nephews and my cousin’s children love it too.
