Financial Support

Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. Many expectant mothers qualify for financial assistance to cover basic pregnancy and living expenses, including but not limited to - transportation reimbursement, utility assistance for phone, water, and electricity/gas, maternity clothing and supplements, etc.

FAQ’s about placing a baby for Adoption

I'm considering giving my baby up for adoption. How much does that cost?

It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.

I'm experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and don't know who the birth father is. Can I still place my baby for adoption?

Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.

When is the right time to talk with an adoption professional?

You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.

When I create an adoption plan, will I get to choose who is in the room with me during delivery?

One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.

How much contact will I have with the adoptive family after I place my baby with them?

As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.

August 2025

11/05/2025

The month of August gave us some more warm, summer days. Brad and I took a trip to visit his Aunt and Uncle in the Cleveland area over a long weekend to start the month. We had a blast spending time with just them. They took us to a local farmer's market where they crowned us the King and Queen of Corn and had great food. Later that day, we went to a Cleveland Guardians game, which they won! Also that weekend, we went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Brad grew up listening to Jimmy Buffet music, and Jimmy was just inducted into the Rock Hall, so he wanted to see his exhibit. Holly grew up listening to a lot of 80s rock thanks to her dad, so it was great to see things from some of her favorite artists as well. On the way back to Indiana, we stopped at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which is a really neat experience for anyone who loves football. It was fun to learn about the history of professional football and see some of our favorite former players that are in the Hall of Fame and a picture...

September 2025

The month of September began with us going to visit Holly’s parents at their campground for the long Labor Day weekend. It is always fun to get away, play board games, have good food and snacks and most importantly just relax. Later in the month, we had friends over to celebrate both of our birthdays. Since Brad’s birthday is in August and Holly’s is in October, it just makes sense to try to get everyone together somewhere in the middle. We love to entertain and host friends and family.  It is always fun when we can get together and its also heartwarming to watch the relationships between our friends grow. We also took our annual trip to the pumpkin patch to get pumpkins that we use to decorate our front porch and the traditional treat of an Apple Cider Slushy.  This month's Disney Family Night was the movie Encanto. Brad announced more high school football and volleyball games and we are nearing the end of the season at the dirt track.

October 2025

11/05/2025

October started with the end of the racing season and Holly’s birthday. It is a big month for birthday’s since Holly, Brad’s mom, and one of Brad’s brothers all have birthdays in October. This month was the first time we did family pictures with Brad’s immediate family, since our adorable nephews were born. The family pictures brought the best kind of chaos with babies while dodging the rain outside. Later that afternoon, we were able to visit Brad’s brother and sister-in-law’s new house and celebrated all three October birthdays with dinner and cake. This month also saw us attend our first Colts game of the season which was a win over the Tennessee Titans. It was great to meet up with friends for lunch before the game as well. Our monthly Disney nights continued this month with a Halloween double feature of Disney’s Descendants 1 and 2. This franchise focuses on the children of classic Disney villains so it's fun to see many Disney movie characters come together in a new way. Brad also had more high school football games and Holly passed out candy to trick or treaters on Halloween. We truly love the neighborhood we are in, all...
