Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about us and our journey. We’re honored that you’re here and hope this book gives you a genuine glimpse into our lives, our relationship, our favorite things, and the love that fills our home.
Our story began in 2013, in a small Midwest town, when we met in high school. What started as a plan to be each other’s prom date quickly turned into something much deeper. We discovered how naturally we connected, how much joy we found in each other’s company, and how alike we were in the things that mattered most. Our first date was filled with laughter (car karaoke, arcade games, temporary tattoos, and a movie) and that same spirit of fun and friendship still defines our relationship.
We’ve truly been best friends from the beginning, and in 2020, we got married surrounded by the people we love. In 2022, we began dreaming of expanding our family. After trying to conceive and reflecting deeply on our path forward, we felt called to adoption, something that had been on our hearts since early in our relationship. Opening our hearts and home through open adoption feels like the most meaningful and natural next step for us.
We are so grateful for the chance to grow our family in this way. Thank you again for considering us and for the incredible love and strength you are showing through your journey. No matter what decision you make, please know that we already hold you in our hearts with deep respect and compassion.
Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. Many expectant mothers qualify for financial assistance to cover basic pregnancy and living expenses, including but not limited to - transportation reimbursement, utility assistance for phone, water, and electricity/gas, maternity clothing and supplements, etc.
It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.
Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.
You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.
One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.
As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.
Hi there. Bailey here! One of my favorite ways to show my love to others is through food. Cooking is something I truly enjoy, especially during the week when I get to try new, healthy recipes right at home. Weekends are usually for discovering new restaurants or visiting our tried-and-true local favorites, but during the week, the kitchen is my happy place. Every Sunday, I like to start by planning meals and then heading to the farmer’s market for fresh fruits and veggies. From there, it’s off to the grocery store to pick up the rest of the ingredients. Here's what our dinners are looking like this week: Monday – I’m making one of my go-to favorites: creamy garlic stuffed chicken! Sometimes I’ll wrap the chicken in prosciutto for a salty, savory twist. We’ll have it with French beans and some farm-fresh corn that Canaan’s parents brought over this weekend. Tuesday – It’s burger night! Canaan will fire up the grill while I prep the sides. It’s a simple dinner, but one we always look forward to. Wednesday – Midweek can get a little hectic with church and Bible Study, so I keep things easy. I’ll whip up BBQ beef...
