To us, your courage is heroic for considering adoption for your child! We cannot imagine how great the weight of such a decision is - it takes an immeasurable amount of love and selflessness to consider entrusting someone else with raising your child. Please know that if you do entrust your baby to us, you will always be a part of our family. Though it's difficult to imagine a close relationship with people you've never met, we already share one thing in common - our unconditional love for the little one you are carrying. We hope our profile will offer a sneak peak into what it could look like to grow up in our family.

Financial Support

Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. Many expectant mothers qualify for financial assistance to cover basic pregnancy and living expenses, including but not limited to - transportation reimbursement, utility assistance for phone, water, and electricity/gas, maternity clothing and supplements, etc.

FAQ’s about placing a baby for Adoption

I'm considering giving my baby up for adoption. How much does that cost?

It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.

I'm experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and don't know who the birth father is. Can I still place my baby for adoption?

Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.

When is the right time to talk with an adoption professional?

You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.

When I create an adoption plan, will I get to choose who is in the room with me during delivery?

One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.

How much contact will I have with the adoptive family after I place my baby with them?

As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.

Holiday Celebrations

03/04/2023

Everyone has different holiday traditions. For me (Abigail), The Nutcracker has always been a special lead into the Christmas season. I enjoyed watching the lights on houses on my way to rehearsals, the warm community built between my dancer friends, and the magic of watching backstage as I dreamed about what part I might be next year. Even now as an adult, I'm honored to be able to continue this experience every year, teaching and setting choreography for talented dancers.  Jonathan grew up nearby grandparents and cousins so he would often have multiple Christmas gatherings throughout the month of December. In the spirit of family time, we took a roadtrip South this year to celebrate Christmas with Abigail's family. Our niece received a brand new Nintendo Switch as a gift so she and Jonathan enjoyed some quality time playing Animal Crossings together. It's always a little bitterwsweet to leave our beautiful nieces and nephew - they grow so quickly - we know we're blessed to be able to spend these moments with them!

Riley Adventures

11/01/2022

We've been taking advantage of this more mild weather to explore different dog parks nearby. Riley is always equally enthusiastic to meet both new dogs and new people. He is quite a friendly fellow. Riley seems to live with the belief that everyone loves him. Our next door neighbors adore him and he has a special bond with their 10 month old.   Jonathan is certainly his favorite human! Riley can hardly contain his tail-wagging when Jonathan drives up the driveway. Aside from eating, his most beloved pastime is snuggling safely between his two humans. Riley knows all is right in the world when both "Momma & Daddy" are home in the same room.

Beach Fun

07/09/2022

In June we soaked up sunshine, relaxed with books, and splashed in the waves at the Outer Banks! This has been a favorite family vacation spot for years. Here, Jonathan proposed to Abigail nearly 14 years ago. And it was walking down this same beach 10 years later that we made the decision to begin actively pursuing adoption. This year was extra special because we were able to celebrate Abigail's  parents' 50th wedding anniversary!

Bring on Summer!

05/29/2022

Last weekend marked the end of a busy school year for Abigail with her dance students' annual Spring recital. This is always a special time of year where we can celebrate the hard work of our students, hug "good bye" to our graduating seniors, and embrace a new season. We love summer - I mean, really, who doesn't? We enjoy spending more time soaking up the warm sunshine and watching fireflies light up the night sky. We like relaxing by our firepit in the evenings and this time of year we keep marshmallows and hot dogs in the fridge ready for roasting on a whim.
