We met in 2019 on a dating app. After two years of courtship, we were engaged in 2021 and married in 2022. We now live in Pennsylvania with our cat, Raeli. We enjoy traveling, playing tennis, apple-picking, cozy evenings at home, and date nights.

We very much want to be parents and grow our family. Because of infertility, we decided to pursue an open adoption. We are excited about open adoption because the child will have a strong connection to their birth family and culture.

We very much want to provide a loving home and supportive family for the baby.

I was looking for a life partner, someone to share both the milestones and the challenging moments. Someone who would hold my hand through all of life’s adventures. I was incredibly fortunate to find Leo. He has become that person and so much more to me. I truly can’t imagine our lives separately.

Leo is always thinking about how he can help. Whether it’s making a donation or volunteering his time, he looks for ways to support causes that matter. That generosity is just part of who he is.

He is deeply caring. As a husband, he pays attention to how I’m feeling and often surprises me with small, thoughtful gestures, tiny daily details, or meaningful acts around things I deeply care about. It means the world to me. Having a partner who is so sensitive to my feelings is something I truly love about him.

His desire to learn is another thing that makes him unique to me. I’ve learned so much simply because his curiosity leads him to explore an author, an artist, a culture, or any topic that catches his interest. It’s fun to watch him try new cooking or baking recipes, too. There are victories and failures along the way (and I definitely benefit from the victories!).

I really admire his dedication to learning Spanish. It hasn’t been easy, but he doesn’t give up.

Leo believes in balance, eating well, staying active, and making time for the gym. It’s not always easy, but staying healthy is something we both truly value and make a priority.

He works in the medical device industry and has a flexible schedule. He enjoys working remotely, and I appreciate that his job is truly 9 to 5, which allows him to fully enjoy the rest of his day doing the things he loves.

Kindness, family, new experiences, and healthy living (with a few cheat days—usually my fault!) are all important to Leo.

From the bottom of my heart, I know that if given the opportunity, Leo will be a wonderful dad. I can picture him reading bedtime stories, spending afternoons at the park, and planning family trips to the national parks, especially Yosemite, his favorite.

What I love most about Carla is her unfailing warmth and genuine kindness toward everyone she meets. Time and again, the compassion she shows to people deepens my love and admiration for her.

Carla was born in Bolivia and moved to the United States in 2019 to pursue her studies — I am in awe of her courage and determination. Today, she is a university professor, where she teaches and conducts research. Carla's incredible work ethic, talent and patience toward her students (she calls them her "kids") never cease to amaze me.

Carla's love language is caring for others. She expresses it through baking something special, preparing a meal after a long day, or quietly stepping in to help whenever someone needs support. She is generous with her time and energy, and she gives without expecting anything in return. She also treasures lifelong friendships — she still keeps in regular contact with her friends from her Girl Scout days!

Carla has also created a home that is warm, cozy, and welcoming — a place where guests instantly feel comfortable. From her thoughtful decorating touches to the lunches and coffee gatherings she organizes, she loves bringing friends and family together.

Carla looks forward with joy and hope to sharing life’s milestones, celebrations, and even its challenges as a loving family. She is the most important person in my life, and I have no doubt that she would be an extraordinary mother — patient, attentive, nurturing, and endlessly loving.

Both sides of our family are incredibly supportive and excited about our journey to become parents. We feel fortunate to have a close-knit family network that spans the United States, Bolivia, Spain, and Canada, and despite the distance, we remain deeply connected.

Leo’s family lives in New York, and we make it a priority to visit them during the holidays whenever we can. Since New York is relatively close, we are able to travel there easily by bus or car, and they also enjoy visiting us whenever the opportunity arises, time together that we truly cherish. When we’re in New York, we enjoy simple moments as a family: going for walks, visiting the botanical garden or museums, cooking and dining together at home, and relaxing with movies in the evening. Leo’s mom, Tanya, loves spending time in nature, and his dad, Alex, who is retired, enjoys working on home improvement projects. Leo’s sister, Darya, and her husband, Angel, also live in New York and always make time to connect when we visit. 

Carla’s family is more geographically spread out. Her mom, Guadalupe, lives in Bolivia and is a very social person who loves handcrafting. Even with the distance, Carla speaks with her mom almost every day, which helps keep them closely connected. Carla’s older siblings live in Bolivia, Spain, and Canada, and one niece and one nephew live here in the United States. We visited Bolivia a few years ago, and we look forward to visiting again in the future, especially as our family grows. Despite living in different places, we stay closely connected through regular calls and messages, sharing important moments and milestones in each other’s lives.

We feel grateful that our future child will grow up surrounded by a loving and supportive family.

We’re fortunate to live in a safe and family-friendly town. Our area is surrounded by natural beauty — forests, fields, mountains, and streams — making it easy to enjoy fresh air, outdoor adventures, and quiet moments in nature throughout the year.

Just a short drive away, we have access to a wonderful variety of activities for children and families. There are museums that offer hands-on exhibits and cultural experiences, parks and playgrounds for daily play, a community pool for summer fun, a public library with children’s programs and story times, and a beautiful botanical garden that’s perfect for learning about nature together and watching sunsets.

Our home itself is warm and inviting. We have a dedicated bedroom that can easily be turned into a cozy nursery. Outside, our backyard provides plenty of room to play or simply relax together as a family. It’s a space where we can imagine birthday parties, first steps, and happy memories being made.
