Hi, we’re Paul and Brandon, a loving and dedicated couple. We met in 2008, while working at the same retail store. Paul made the first move by asking a mutual friend to introduce him to Brandon. We had our first date at a local restaurant and spent the following months bonding over our love for movies, music, and pop culture. We went on several weekend trips to Washington, D.C., New York City, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, usually to visit a historic site, attend a concert, or see a theater performance.
After dating for nine months, we moved into a one-bedroom apartment, not far from our families. We both spent the following years working full-time as we completed our college degrees. While it took a bit longer, our hustling allowed us to graduate debt-free and we were able to buy our home in 2013.
In 2020, on our 12th anniversary, we were married in a small ceremony on the steps of our town’s courthouse, surrounded by our family. We share our home with our French bulldog, Sophia, and three cats: Lupe, Dubs, and Poppy.
Throughout our relationship, we’ve always known we wanted to build our family and become parents. Our path to parenthood has been meaningful and, at times, challenging; however, this has provided opportunities to find support and become fully prepared—financially, emotionally, and practically—to welcome a child into our lives through open adoption. We have strong support from our families, both biological and chosen. We look forward to sharing this love, laughter, and support with the child we adopt.
Thanks for learning more about us!
Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. Many expectant mothers qualify for financial assistance to cover basic pregnancy and living expenses, including but not limited to - transportation reimbursement, utility assistance for phone, water, and electricity/gas, maternity clothing and supplements, etc.
It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.
Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.
You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.
One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.
As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.
The second half of 2025 was busy for us! With so much going on, we had to look back through the calendar to remind ourselves of what we’ve been up to over the last few months. Here’s a few highlights: We took Sophia, our Frenchie, to pick sunflowers at a nearby farm. Brandon and his Mom met Steve Gonsalves from Ghost Hunters, and participated in a ghost hunt with him at a historic manor in Virginia. Brandon met former Vice President Kamala Harris at her book release! A mutual friend tagged along, and the book has joined the shelves with so many others yet to be read. We made some decisions and finally had our bathroom remodeled at the end of July. As with most home projects, things didn’t exactly go according to plan… The first week of August we were on vacation with family in Myrtle Beach while our bathroom was being finished at home. Thankfully, we had friends nearby who could help “manage” the process while we were out of town. We had fun in Myrtle Beach along with Paul's sister, our brother-in-law, and nieces and nephew. There was a lot to do, and the kids kept us...
