Financial Support

Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. Many expectant mothers qualify for financial assistance to cover basic pregnancy and living expenses, including but not limited to - transportation reimbursement, utility assistance for phone, water, and electricity/gas, maternity clothing and supplements, etc.

FAQ’s about placing a baby for Adoption

I'm considering giving my baby up for adoption. How much does that cost?

It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.

I'm experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and don't know who the birth father is. Can I still place my baby for adoption?

Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.

When is the right time to talk with an adoption professional?

You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.

When I create an adoption plan, will I get to choose who is in the room with me during delivery?

One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.

How much contact will I have with the adoptive family after I place my baby with them?

As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.

Our Annual Summer Trip 2025

08/14/2025

We just returned from our beloved annual trip up north, where we spent a week on the lake surrounded by family. Our days were filled with boating, swimming, and playing together, all under the gift of perfect summer weather. Each moment was a reminder of how much we treasure these traditions—and how excited we are to one day share this special trip, and the memories it creates, with a new family member.

A great holiday season

01/29/2025

Our family enjoyed so many fun activities this holiday season.  From parades and holiday lights exhibits to family dinners, we felt so fortunate for all of our wonderful quality family time.  Big sister Freya had two holiday recitals where she showed off her hard work in gymnastics and dance so far this year!  Grandmas and Grandpas, Aunts and Uncles all came out to support and cheer her on.  We loved our holiday season and we can't wait to celebrate and make family memories with a new family member.

Our Summer 2024

02/19/2025

We have had some fantastic adventures this summer and can't wait to share more with another member of the family! We started our summer with a trip out west with Russ' parents and brother, our Spanish family (a former foreign exchange student and her husband), and a good family friend.  We found some great adventures along the way to our destination, Yellowstone National Park.  We had the opportunity to explore the Badlands, Sioux Falls, and Mount Rushmore!  Freya participated in several summer camps this year at our local zoo and petting zoo.  She came home each day with some fun facts about animals and a day's worth of wonderful experiences.  From milking goats, to feeding sheep, to making animal themed art, she had a blast! We got to explore our amazing state with trips to the sand dunes, the lake, and Mackinac Island.  We also built some fun memories having tea with Russ' mom and dressing up as "the grannies" at a Bluey party! We closed out the summer with a trip to our local fair and have moved on to the fall festivities - picking apples and attending festivals.   We have been patiently waiting for a new family...

Disney Magic with Our "Puzzle Family"

03/11/2026

A few weeks ago we took a trip that had been a long time in the making — a trip to Disney World with our “Puzzle Family.” 🧩✨ Several years ago I (Caitlin) joined a competitive puzzle team with three other moms. What started as a shared love of puzzles quickly grew into something much bigger. Our families became close, our kids became friends, and before long we realized we had created something really special together. Now there are 8 parents and 6 kids who make up what we lovingly call our Puzzle Family. This year we decided to take on Disney World together — and it was every bit as fun, chaotic, magical, and memorable as you might imagine with a group our size! We spent time in all four parks, rode so many rides, watched incredible fireworks, explored the shops, enjoyed delicious dinners, and even squeezed in some relaxing pool time at the hotel. One of our favorite parts of the trip was simply getting to experience it all together — sharing laughs in line for rides, cheering during shows, and watching the kids see the magic of Disney through their eyes. Freya had a clear favorite ride:...
