What a Weekend!

This weekend, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and went geocaching! Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor “treasure hunting” game. To play, all you need to do is use the GPS on your phone. We logged on to the geocaching website, picked a few geocaches that were nearby, and inputted the specific GPS coordinates listed on the website and searched for the geocache containers hidden at those locations using the GPS coordinates and the clues given to us on the website. The geocaches are small containers with small tokens or trinkets and a log book inside. You add your name to the log and the date you found it and put the geocache back for someone else to find. Once you’ve signed the log, you add your name to the list of people who have found the log on the geocaching website. There are caches everywhere: some are hidden on trails in parks, some are tucked inside guard rails near the street, others are just puzzles to be cracked. We’ve geocached all around the world whenever we go on vacation and we’re always amazed at how creatively people hide the caches. We’ve logged caches up and down the East Coast, in Puerto Rico, Bermuda, London, Paris, Rome, all over the Caribbean and even found a few while in Disney World! We’ve found so many hidden gems of parks and amazing vistas we never knew existed so close to home, too.

Here’s a few pictures of us geocaching this weekend. One was so tiny Rob could barely roll the log back up to get it in the container! We were careful not to reveal the secret hiding spots for the caches we found. We wouldn’t want to spoil the fun for others who are on the hunt!
