Dyspraxia

As we mentioned in the previous post, our oldest, Ava, has Dyspraxia, a motor coordination disorder that doesn’t affect cognition. That means that she can be uncoordinated and need extra help learning things like kicking or throwing a ball, or speaking and writing. But, intellectually, she’s one smart cookie! She’s worked so hard on improving her speech, and most everybody understands her now. She loves to read, and is a wiz at math! Just don’t ask her to play anything that involves a ball. ?

Dyspraxia is actually pretty common, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), is one of many celebrities who has this diagnosis. He’s talked about the difficulty he’s had with tying shoes. I can attest to this being a ridiculously difficult task for a dispraxic person. I’m so grateful for the many creative inventions that make things like this easier, like no tie shoe laces!
