Favorite Music Artist

When it comes to music, I tend to listen to the same group of artists. If I had to categorize the type of music I listen to, it would be folk pop. I think that is the best way to describe it! In high school I would jam out to any country and throw in some Chris Brown or Trey Songz. As I’ve gotten older, I enjoy music that is more mellow and relaxing. That makes me feel so old! Despite that being my preference, my favorite music artist, EVER, is Ben Rector. He is still fairly small, but I’d say he’s getting bigger.

I love his music so much that Alec and I incorporated a handful of songs into our wedding day. He has a good mix of fun, super upbeat songs, as well as some mellow ones. There’s not a ton of people I’ve met that know who he is, but I’ve never met someone that knew about him, and didn’t like his music.

Back in 2018, a few months before Alec and I got married, Alec got me tickets to his concert for my birthday. He had just released a new album. Over the years Alec has really gotten into Ben Rector’s music…and Alec’s music style is way different than mine! Alec is super into music and I’m not exaggerating when I say he’s seen over 100 people perform. Even Alec said that going to Ben Rector’s concert was one of the best shows he’s seen!

This morning I woke up seething that Ben released a new single. Still laying in bed, I had to listen to it. This new song of his makes you want to be driving with the windows down without a care in the world. It’s so summery and fun! I think he is releasing the rest of the album soon. It feels like it could be an album that you spend the summer jamming out to.

Music for me is based on my mood. Depending on my mood I might put on my Jesus playlist, Ben Rector, or others such as This Wild Life, John Mayer (classic), or even the Disney Hits!
