Nature Walk — Gator

Over the weekend Fran and I went on a nature walk in a national park and saw this 9′ alligator, thankfully from a safe distance!

We love spending time in the outdoors and appreciate nature.  We have been fortunate to see gators in a variety of locations, incuding nature walks, while fishing and in drainage canals next to roads while driving by.  Once one came swimming up to our canoe but luckily it stopped and just stayed there on the surface watching us.

Our favorite gator scene is a canal next to a highway that goes through the everglades — during mating season.   Gator after gator are sunning themselves on the surface of the water and on adjacent banks.  The most we counted was 28.

We’re very lucky to live in a state that has so many nature areas relatively close to cities.

Speak to you soon!

Steve
