Summer Fun!

This summer, Ellen treated me to some fun birthday events, which has become a little tradition to do. Instead of just buying gifts, we like to explore and see or do some things we don’t often have a chance to. This year, this included a trip to the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, here in DC, and an Indian cooking class, plus a few other stops.

We’ve been to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens before, but it’s been a while. If you aren’t familiar, it’s a lovely park filled with small ponds and a variety of plants and wildlife that thrive in that type of environment. Every summer, the lotuses and water lilies bloom and it’s quite a sight to see. This year, we caught it a little early, but still managed to see some of the American Lotus blooms, which have a distinct yellow color.

Later, we had a cooking class, which was a lot of fun. We learned how to make Chicken Tikka Masala, and Naan bread from scratch. It took a little work, but we got the hang of the right dough thickness for the break, and the Masala turned out great! We’re excited to put it in our regular rotation for dinner.
