Summertime
August 5, 2020: Day 1 following tropical storm Isaias. A lot of flooding in my area but I weathered the storm with no flooding or wind damage. What a summer it has been. I do not remember as a child experiencing tropical storms. Half through and it has been a summer like no other. Summer vacation and plans cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. I have been social distancing close to home. This has given me a lot of time to think about summer as a kid. Camp, swimming at the club, trips to amusement parks, getting Philly water ice &pretzels, field trips… I could keeping going. As a family we always would go south to visit relatives. My twin and I loved road trips. We would count the different state license plates we spotted on the highway. I loved that part of summer and my childhood. Being carefree and having fun. I hope to provide a child with this experience of carefree summer days.
Before signing off, I would like to share a photo of a family of geese that join me on today’s walk. Looking at this family enjoying the creek had me thinking about the future and sharing a beautiful sunny day with child as a family on the trail.
