About Zach (In Zach’s Words)

Hi, I’m Zach!

I am a civil engineer for an asphalt paving and civil construction company. I love my job and the team that I work with. I love having the opportunity to contribute to the building of new roads and infrastructure in our city. The employees are very close and often know each other’s families. My job is very family-friendly and flexible. My manager is very understanding of life outside of work and allows me to be available for things that need my attention. I have spoken with one of our vice presidents about the adoption, and he was so supportive and encouraging. He explained that they will work with me on time off and will allow me to work remotely for any travel during the adoption.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, basketball, disc golf, and hanging out with my friends, especially my best friend and wife, Madeline. There are so many beautiful parks in our city, several of which have a disc golf course, so I often play at a course each week. Sometimes Madeline will walk with me while I play. Overall, I love to spend time outside. Madeline and I love to take our dog, Beans, for a walk around our neighborhood or a park. I have a great group of friends that I spend time with regularly. I also love when we host families from our church.

Ever since I was a high school boy, I knew I wanted to be a father one day. My childhood was full of playing with my siblings and laughing with my family. I loved riding four-wheelers, playing backyard baseball and kickball. As a child, I was also taught to respect others and work hard. My mom is very loving and caring, and my dad is a hard worker and a jack of all trades. They have influenced me and shaped me into the man I am today. My mom was very good at communicating with me when I misbehaved. This is a great way to parent and a way that I hope to parent my child in the future. Much of my childhood was spent learning from my dad, as he is very handy and skilled in different things. I look forward to teaching my child and loving them unconditionally. Most of all, together with Madeline, I look forward to teaching our child about Jesus. My greatest prayer for my child is that they know and love Jesus.
