Birth mom letter

Dear friend,

Thank you for giving us the chance to share our profile book with you.  Neither of us can imagine all the thoughts and feelings you are experiencing as you consider an adoption plan for your child—but we already know you must be a courageous woman.  We want to you tell you about ourselves and why wish to grow our family through adoption.

My name is Charlotte and my husband’s name is Glen.  We both grew up in the midwest and we are both musicians—Glen plays French horn and I play piano and saxophone.  We love football, going to concerts, and arts and crafts.  I enjoy sewing and Glen makes artwork from found objects like pallets, bottlecaps, and PVC pipe.  Like many other couples, we spent some years struggling with getting pregnant—but a whole new world opened up to us when we started looking at adoption for the first time.

We have several family members and a few friends who were adopted as infants, including my grandfather.  He always spoke with love and gratitude for his birth mom and his “Mom & Dad”—his adoptive parents.  They gave him a wonderful life, and his story is part of what inspired us to consider adoption as a way to add to our family.  Glen’s aunt was also adopted, and we loved learning the story about her birth mother and the brave decision she made in creating an adoption plan for her daughter.

We read in your profile that you have an interest in keeping communication open with an adoptive family.  My husband and I are very much on board and we believe it’s best for a child to be connected to both their birth parent(s) and their adoptive family.  We want to meet you with whatever you need—photos, phone calls, text, in person visits—and provide you with as much communication as you desire.

No matter what path you choose, our prayers and thoughts go with you.  Thank you again for reading our book!

Love,

Charlotte & Glen
