MEET MY VILLAGE
I know that it’s silly, or people think that it’s silly, to hear the saying “it takes a village,” but in my case, as a single mom to a three-year-old, it really does. My family and friends are the best and they have helped me throughout my entire life and have always been there for me.
My Mom and Dad have always been there for me and have been very supportive in everything I’ve done; and they continue to help me today. They watch my daughter during the week, while I’m at work, and she gets their undivided attention each day. My siblings live within a 10-minute drive of each other which better enables me to see them (and for Eleanor to see her cousins) on a very regular basis. My nieces, Eleanor’s cousins, are very special to me and her, and they would be equally special to any new bundle of joy.
I also have two cousins that are like siblings, and similarly, I have always had a special bond with their parents. We, along with my siblings, have all always been sidekicks to one another and have had many good times together building unforgettable memories.
As for my friends, I keep in touch with the friends I’ve met throughout my life, including kids from grammar school through college, and friends I made throughout my adult life. And, although life is busy between work and raising a child, I still stay in touch and catch up with them frequently.
