My Hobbies, Interests, & Traditions
I love traveling and especially enjoy beach trips (even if my fair complexion says otherwise!). Exploring state and local parks through hiking is one of my favorite ways to unwind, and I’m always up for a visit to theme parks like Disney.
Other things I enjoy include going to sporting events, fishing, perusing craft fairs, or catching a good movie. Often, I find myself lost in a good DIY home project, and in quieter moments, enjoy scrapbooking and attempting to garden (I am not the best, but I’m learning!).
Spring: Berry season, where the vibrant colors, music, laughter, and taste of fresh fruits is unforgettable. The excitement of picking berries straight from the field, placing them in the bucket, and taking them home to eat (at least what makes it to the car) is like no other.
Summer: Summer brings the tradition of family. As a child, that always led to two weeks at the beach with Grandma. The memories made it priceless. While summer family vacation has changed slightly and given way to new destinations, we still hold the tradition of family time.
Fall: Thanksgiving is the highlight and my family (immediate and extended) celebrate together. Everyone brings a dish (usually the same one as they can’t break tradition) and my sister makes Grandma’s turkey recipe.
Winter: One of my most cherished traditions comes just before Christmas, when the kitchen fills with the warmth and sweetness of baking cookies. More than cookies, it’s the feeling of being included, making something together, and sharing sticky fingers, laughter, and smiles. A tradition once hosted by my grandma, I now get the privilege of sharing with family and friends.
