There is nothing more important to us than family, friends, and community. We are lucky to have friends and family across New York state and even overseas. While we may be spread out, we always find ways to spend time together over holidays, on long weekends, and whenever we are able.
Rachel is close with her two older sisters who both live in Rochester, NY along with Rachel’s 1-year-old niece and 3-year-old nephew. We love to make trips out to Western NY to visit her family in Rochester and friends in Buffalo. Stephen’s sister-in-law and nieces live in England. We visit them in England whenever we are able and vacation together in Vermont when they are in the states every August.
Both of our parents are still happily married (51 years for Rachel’s parents and 49 years for Stephen’s parents!) and conveniently live about 20 minutes apart in downstate NY. Holidays are a time we all get to spend together.
In addition to our loving family, we have many friends with young children who live close by in Albany. Some of our friends host a Thursday night spaghetti dinner for the neighborhood kids! All of our family and friends are very excited and supportive of our plan to adopt. They have already banded together to make sure we will have all the essentials when the time comes to welcome a new baby into our family and they are all excited to surround this child with love.
